Wilga Park River Gum had his first intro to Cowboy Dressage in a clinic with Lyn Ringrose-Moe at Esk on the weekend of 27-28 Oct 2018. This was a great introduction to riding among a number of horses for him & Riv handled himself very well.
WOW what a weekend! I've been trying to put the words together to express the feeling. So I'll just wing it. LOL
To say that my two kids did us proud is an understatement. Both performed impeccably, and with very few hours under their belt I went with the plan to just have fun & give them their first into to showing under saddle. With Wilga Park River Gum who I started myself in the last couple of months not even up to 20 hours under saddle, and Cockatoo Park Dream only up to about 70 hours, I could not have asked for more. They both performed like old hands, neither one putting a foot wrong.
Nancy Clarke did the most amazing job riding my girl on only their fourth ride together to come away with Champ Purebred Mare, 1st Mare 4 & over, 3rd best behaved, equal 2nd with River in Western Dressage Equitation & 3rd in the Challenge course.
Linda Shore rode River in his first ridden class after only two 10 minutes rides before hand to take him to Champ Purebred Morgan under Saddle against stiff competition. Thank you Linda for showing me just what a amazing young man I have, I can't thank you enough. This boy can do anything, the skys the limit for us.
River came away with Supreme Purebred Morgan in Hand, 1st Morgan Colt 3 & under, 4th Best Behaved, 1st Stallion under saddle, Champ Purebred under saddle, 2nd Ranch Riding, Equal 2nd with Dreamy in Western Dressage Equitation & 2nd in Challenge Course. He was such a good boy. Nothing worried him, he didn't take a 2nd glance at anything in the indoor arena & did everything he was asked to do.
Both kids tried their hearts out for us and when the huge storm hit with deafening claps of thunder during the challenge course they both were beyond scared but still listened to us. I am so proud of the way River didn't panic when the ropes wrapped around his foot. It could have ended very badly but he stood still & waited to be released. I could not feel safer on this boy.
Cockatoo Park Morgans is very proud and excited to welcome Red Bluff Paprika into the family. Paprika has been purchased from Wilga Park Morgans and Fernleigh Creek Scarlett has also come home again. Paprika is due to foal to Ranch Boss Cortez in early November which will be the last Cortez x Paprika foal to be born. Scarlet is also due to foal in November to Wilga Park Silver Sabre, son of Ranch Boss Cortez & Eagleview Skybeau (aka Calypso). We have high hopes for these two foals and can’t wait for their arrival. Together these two mares will form the brood mare base for Cockatoo Park. Both Mares will be bred to Wilga Park River Gum this season and we can’t wait to see what these two crosses will bring us.
We wish to thank Greg & Kathy Lyons for trusting us with their beautiful mare & we wish them much happiness in their future ventures.
Thank you for coming to visit us & Cockatoo Park Playboy Pamela Hay. Was great to meet you & have a play with PB.
So very happy with my Morgan kids. My chocolate girl Cockatoo Park Dream & my River of Gold, Wilga Park River Gum. This was only River's 3rd ride. They are both doing very proud.
Words can't describe how very proud and excited Cockatoo Park Morgans are to announce that our superb purebred Morgan gelding Cockatoo Park UpNattum, has been sold to a wonderful home in the United States of America.
UpNattum carries the blood of Morgan Legends on both sides of his breeding. His sire is Wirraway Trademark (imp) (PKR Primavera Brio x Fox Brush Custom Design (imp)).
His dam is Fernleigh Creek Scarlet (Mt Tawonga King x Myross Morgans Hine (imp)).
Cockatoo Park UpNattum has claimed that amazing title of being the 1st Australian Morgan to be exported to the USA!
Huge Congratulations to Lisi Edwards on the purchase of Uppy aka Adam. We are sure that you will enjoy your journey and future with our amazing little man. He has been a pleasure to own, and his whole composure is typical of the Cockatoo Park breeding lines. We are confident he will excel at whatever discipline you choose to follow with him.
Uppy was a true gentleman, for his enormous trip half way across the world over the span of 9 days via truck, plane & float rides.
A quote from Lisi today:
"I didn't get a chance to tell you...the overnight vets at Rood and Riddle liked Adam so much that they found your website and watched all of his videos. They were completely impressed with the work you've done with him. (R&R is THE leading vet-med facility in the United States.) "
Cockatoo Park UpNattum (Uppy) showing us his lovely gaits.
Cockatoo Park Dream & I headed off to Warwick Show last weekend. Dreamy's 1st show in over 18months. She was such a good girl even after standing around waiting for 2 hours. She came away with 1st in Morgan mare any age to add to her collection of blue ribbons. So happy with how she is turning out, such a stunner.
Cockatoo Park Morgans held a demonstration at a Warwick Horse Trials ODE in October 2017. This was our first venture out into public displays to showcase our Morgans. Aussie & I performed with liberty followed by ridden. There were many distractions on the day with the wind blowing, drag racing cars next door & the rifle club going on the other side but Aussie handled it all like a pro. Under saddle we started saddled & bridled, moved to using sticks for steering then finished with taking the bridle off to ride bridless & no hands.
Aussie & River are now in prep for the Qld State Morgan Show at Toowoomba Showgrounds on 29th October 2017
